Hi,
I recently set-up a domain with my Vercel project but for some reason the website is “not secure” as per my browser. However, if I use a VPN, I’m able to connect to my website. I’ve tried setting up a CAA record but nothing seems to be working. Can someone please help?
Hi,
Can you share the domain name and screenshot of the error?

Hi,
Yes, sure! The domain is mahiranand.com. Please find attached the screenshot of the error, thanks!
It could be due to DNS propagation which may take upto 24 hours. Are you still experiencing this?

Hi,
Yes, I’m still experiencing the issue. But here’s an interesting thing I noticed. My website started loading up yesterday, when I was repeatedly refreshing it, and then it worked for a couple of hours. However, when I woke up this morning and checked, it again has stopped loading up. Could you please help me fix this issue?
Thanks!
Are you on corporate Firewall / Proxy or using any form of antivirus or Browser extension? Your SSL certificate seems just fine and trusted by all browsers.
Have you tried different network / device?

Hi,
So, it’s definitely my institution’s wifi blocking the website because I can access it when I’m using a VPN. However, what’s interesting is that I hosted another project on Vercel a few days ago and that seems to be working fine at all times. So, something is definitely wrong on the deployment side.
Here’s a screenshot on my webpage which shows some weird dates for my SSL certificate while it just made my website. Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Thanks! The Forgtiguard SDNS is a Secure DNS service and looks like they are indeed restricting the traffic. We don’t use Fortinet certificate and there is no specific blocking placed on our side. Hope this helps!
Hi,
Thanks for letting me know. So, when I am using a VPN, my website changes to a Let’s Encrypt certificate (which I’m assuming is what Vercel uses, picture attached).
Could you please let me know how I can ensure my deployment always uses this certificate at all times?
Thanks,
Mahir
HI Mahir,
As mentioned in the last post, your domain is already have Letsencrypt certificate which you can check using any online SSL checker tool. It’s your VPN connection which is overriding the SSL certificate and blocking the connection.
