I’ve seen at least 3 outages where https://www.vercel-status.com claimed systems were operational, but it was clearly down.
But some user-reported site like Is Vercel Down? Check Vercel status, outages, and problems can accurately tell immediately that it’s down.
I’m always confused by this, what’s the point of having a status site if it’s not accurate?
And it’s not like seconds either, it will be down for 10, 20, 40 minutes at a time or more sometimes. Is there not at least a basic server ping happening?
Feels like we need to create a homegrown external AWS system just to check if the site is accessible and create a static backup version or something for when this happens to minimize business impact.
Somewhat disappointed with this.
