I’m trying to transfer out a domain I purchased from Vercel from my account to another account, but when I click the Transfer Out button, the authorization code never generates and is just stuck in perpetual buffering (screen below shows what I see). I’ve let it run for hours and nothing generates.
The domain registrar is currently Vercel, and it’s been with Vercel for 93 days, which is greater than the 60 day requirement, so that’s not the issue.
Would it be possible to manually get an authorization code? Thanks!
Hey @hsengteam-gmailcom. We can’t safely share a new auth code here in public. Please open a case so our support team can talk with you privately. You can do that from the Support tab in your team’s dashboard or by visiting vercel.com/help directly.
Can you share any error details you see in the browser console or network tab? I want to create a bug report for the transfer code issue you ran into, and it helps to have these details to direct our investigation.
I’m on a Hobby plan, so I can’t open a ticket, and would rather not upgrade then downgrade solely to resolve this problem. (By the way your help chatbot insists on creating tickets which I’m disallowed from submitting, which is frustrating.)
Attempts to get codes spawn modals which say they’re fetching the codes, but never do – there’s an endless spinner.
I thought this might be related to the nameservers having been changed for one of these two domains, but the experience is the same with either – Vercel’s NS or not.
Still hanging as of this morning – if it makes any difference I was a Pro subscriber for about three-and-a-half years before I was downgraded (by Vercel) to Hobby because I wasn’t using many resources
I’m wondering if this has to do with everyone now having a Team, whereas before they didn’t. I bet there’s some confusion in the back end as to where exactly that code now is, given that I have a Team which can have domains but which doesn’t because all the domains are at the account level
Hey @colinhowells. I can’t safely share a auth codes in public. In case there was a problem with the original auth codes, I reset them to new ones. Please try to retrieve them from your project dashboard as described here: Transferring Domains to Another Team or Project
If you are still unable to get the auth codes, please open a case to talk directly with our customer success team. You should be able to create the case with the Domain Renewal problem area (no pro team needed).
If you can share more details about errors that appear in the browser console or network tab, I can use that to investigate the issue.
As I was saying earlier, any attempt to get codes, on any browser, on multiple machines, hangs. No errors being logged that I can see, just … nothing. I’ve attached a HAR to the ticket I just created.
Thanks for letting me know that a subject of Domain Renewal will allow a ticket to be submitted – that’s not obvious. Pretty much every other subject incuding Domain Transfers – the one that you’d think is relevant here – results in an unsubmittable ticket , and the tickets generated by the chatbot aren’t using Renewal as a subject, so hence not submittable, creating a frustrating Catch-22.
Thanks for opening a case. I appreciate you following up with additional information there to help us investigate this intermittent issue. I see that a Customer Support Engineer was able to give you the transfer auth codes, so I’m going to close this thread.
