I am a maintainer of is-a-dev, a free subdomain service. We are registered with the PSL and our users want to connect their is-a-dev domains with Vercel however, when we try to add a is-a-dev subdomain to Vercel, it says that another account is already using the domain, and asks us to create a _vercel.is-a.dev TXT record, which is not possible for us as then only one person would be able to do that at a time. When we previously contacted Vercel regarding this, we were told that is-a-dev would need to register with the PSL, which we have done now. We want each user to be able to use Vercel on their subdomain (example.is-a.dev). I request you to help us regarding this matter.
I believe Vercel has a very significant lag time for pulling from the PSL as we were added 5 months ago and it is still requiring verification at the root. It would be good if Vercel could setup an automated function to auto pull the PSL file at https://publicsuffix.org/list/public_suffix_list.dat every week or so in order to prevent issues like this.
One thing I want to point out is we’ve asked before in the org in this discussion, but it got locked without an answer. We’ve tried to also contact via a tweet (don’t have the link since it got deleted) which as far as I recall we have also not gotten a response there.
This is pretty much the same issue as TXT Verfication. In addition to is-a.dev this happens to other users of the following subdomain services which are listed on the PSL as well:
If possible adding full support for the PSL to Vercel would be amazing and would help many subdomain providers that are listed there. Basically allowing subdomains of domains listed on the PSL to be used across many user accounts without verification of the root domain. This functionality is already included in other services similar to Vercel such as Netlify.
Seems normal to me, since it has a hyperlink which when you click on it goes to https://www.is-a.dev. Also to be fair I don’t think its that big of a problem that it doesn’t have a dot.
